My Medical Team

I am so lucky to have a wonderful team of doctors and therapists that are helping me to be all that I can be.
My team consists of:

Dr. Nishant Shah - Dr. Shah is my Pediatric Neurologist and my friend.  Dr. Shah is who delivered the news about the results of my MRI and told my parents that I might have Cerebral Palsy when I was 7 weeks old.  When my Mommy and DaDa asked Dr. Shah if I would ever walk, talk, etc - Dr. Shah told them that he could not answer that question.  He told them "The day you say Cameron will never do something, he never will!"  Dr. Shah gave my parents hope and encouraged them to have me start therapy.  Because of Dr. Shah I am who I am.  I can even say Dr. Shah now and whenever Mommy says we are going to the doctor I always say "Dr. Shah" - I just assume that is who I will be seeing.

Dr. Tjaden and Dr. Kaufman - These are my Pediatricians who have made me love going to the doctor.  Both Dr. Tjaden and Dr. Kaufman helped to arrange for me to become a patient of Dr. Shah's when I became sick again when I was 7 weeks old.  Every time I see them they tell me how great I am doing and how proud they are of me.  They always spend extra time with me and answer all of Mommy's questions.  And believe me my Mommy always has a list of questions!

Dr. Aljadeff - This is my Pediatric Pulmonologist.  Dr. Aljadeff has been my Pulmonologist since I was 13 months old and has helped to keep my asthma managed so that I can stay out of the hospital and not have breathing problems when I am running all around.  Each time Dr. Aljadeff sees me for a visit he tells my Mommy that I am the cleanest little boy he has ever seen - my Mommy always has me dressed just so, my nails scrubbed and all of my hair in place!  How she does it I do not know and Dr. Aljadeff can't figure it out either - because he knows how mischievous I am!

Dr. Walner - This is my Pediatric ENT.  Dr. Walner has been my ENT since I was 1 year old and because I had so many ear infections he was my surgeon for my ear tubes.  He also discovered that I was tongue-tied and corrected that so I can wiggle my tongue and make all of my sounds clearer.  It also helped me to eat better.  Because everyone was always looking in my ears anytime my Mommy says we are going to the doctor I always pat my ears.  I am also fascinated by ears and like to pull and tug everyone's ears that I can get my little hands on!

Dolores - This was my Physical Therapist who I started to see when I was only 4 months old.  At first I would cry through my entire therapy sessions because it was a lot of hard work and I knew my Mommy would hold me.  But Dolores quickly recognized what I was doing and had Mommy stop "rescuing" me. Once I realized she was serious I worked really hard during my sessions.  When I started to run faster than Dolores she discharged me from Physical Therapy!

Robin - This is my Occupational Therapist who started to see me before I turned 1 years old.  Robin taught me to explore the world around me and to venture out and try new things.  Sometimes I have struggled with motor planning, meaning until someone shows me how to do something I will not try it on my own.  Thanks to Robin I now figure out lots of ways to get into "trouble" at home without anyone showing me how to do it!

Dana and Heather - Dana and Heather are both my Speech Therapists.  I started to see Dana when I was 18 months old and recently added sessions with Heather as well.  Dana and Heather are helping me to learn how to communicate through sign language as well as spoken words.  When I started speech therapy I was extremely frustrated because I could not tell my Mommy or DaDa what I wanted - so I would get upset and hit my head on the floor.  I do not do that anymore because I am able to sign a lot of words (more, please, thank you, sorry, eat, milk, drink, play, on, music, help me, my turn and my colors) and each day I am saying more and more words.  Mommy and DaDa know I am excelling at speech because I can now say 'NO' too!

Jamie - This is my Developmental Therapist who started to see me after I turned 1 year old.  When I first met Jamie I did not play with toys.  I only banged toys together or threw them.  Jamie has taught me how to play with all different toys and has made me want to play with toys.  Because of Jamie when I am playing my Mommy and DaDa hear me laughing and see me smiling.  Jamie is now working on helping me to learn how to share toys with Abby - I think sharing is going to be a very difficult task to master but I guess I will give it my all - wink, wink!

Katie - This is my Early Intervention Service Coordinator who has worked with me and my family since I was 6 months old.  Katie has kept track of all of my progress and helped my parents to arrange each and every therapy for me.  She has made sure that every “i” has been dotted and every “t” has been crossed on the mounds of paperwork that have been generated to help me be the best that I can be!
